Spring clean your wardrobe, exchange old threads for new ones, and raise money for EWRASAC!
Brought to you in association with Edinbop’s Shoe Swing.
How it works:
To take part, please bring along at least 2 items of clean clothing or accessories in good condition (or more – we recommend using this as an opportunity to have a proper clear out!). Clothes don’t necessarily have to be vintage or danceable – just anything you never wear and think someone else might enjoy.
Minimum donation to take part is £1 if you bring along at least 2 items, or £3.50 if you don’t.
Suggested minimum donations for items you want to take home:
T-Shirts, tops, skirts, shorts, small accessories or similar: £1
Dresses, trousers, jumpers, cardigans or similar: £2
Shoes, coats, bags, other large or fancy items: £3
Afterwards, take your new favourite outfit for a (literal) spin on the dance floor in the main room!
Any leftover clothes will go to a charity shop, or you may take back your own after the swap has ended.
Where does the money go?
Edinburgh Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (EWRASAC, Registered Charity Ref. SC 006208) is facing a 50% loss of funding in May 2013, which will have a devastating impact on their support services. Currently, the waiting time to access services is up to 9 months long.
They offer free and confidential emotional and practical support, information and advocacy to women, girls aged 12 and over, and all members of the transgender community, who have experienced sexual violence from male or female abusers at any time in their lives. This includes rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and ritual abuse.
Other ways to donate:
Text ERCC12 £10 to 70070 to donate £10
Text WIMN12 £5 to 70070 to donate £5
