Edinbop is taking over the LifeCare Centre again this August! Every Thursday in August we’ll have one all-levels class (7.30–8.30pm) followed by an all-dances social dance (8.30–10.15pm) where our talented local DJs will play music for all of the dance styles that we do here at Edinbop: Blues, Balboa, Slow Bal, Solo Jazz, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, and St Louis shag.
The all-levels class is suitable for any level of blues/swing dancer, whether you’re completely new or you’ve been dancing for years. All classes are drop-in and all are welcome; no partner necessary. See our calendar for more details.
Edinbop is pleased to announce a Collegiate Shag takeover of Monday nights!
For the month of February, Monday nights are being shaken up a little with Collegiate Shag classes from Rebecca, Adam, and Murray – some of the best Shag dancers in Scotland.
Lessons will be flipped around from their usual schedule, meaning that Fundamentals starts at 7pm, and Improvers will begin at 8pm. Improvers will follow on directly from the Fundamentals lesson – meaning anyone who attends the Fundamentals class is welcome to jump in and give it a try.
Boteco do Brasil, Lothian Street, Edinburgh EH1 1HB.
One dance class – £6 // £5 concessions
Two dance classes – £10 // £8 concessions
9pm – 10pm, with music suitable for Balboa, Shag, and other fast swing dances.
£3, or included in the price of a class.
Edinbop’s regular lessons have finished for the summer to make way for the festival. They will start back up again in the first week of September.
Don’t worry – we’ve got your dancing fix covered in the meantime! We have taken over ESDS’s usual haunt, Stockbridge House, and are putting on weekly lessons on Thursdays nights throughout August, as well as 1.5 hours of social dancing. The lessons will feature a variety of dance styles – please visit our Events page to see what’s on this week, or keep up-to-date with us on Facebook.
Edinbop Swings the Fringe is back for a second year, and this time we’ll be at Stockbridge House/LifeCare Centre (with thanks to our friends at ESDS for loaning us their usual venue).
Every week for the month of August we will have a 1 hour lesson followed by 1.5 hours of social dancing. We will be offering classes in different styles of dance each week, so check out our events page or Facebook to see what we will be covering!
