That’s right Jump Time Cat’s and Kittens, this is really gonna turn your crank. It’s time to dim the Edisons warm up your pedal extremities and swing out on a solid slab of sound. If diggin’ the bop kick with the Blowtops don’t grab your magoo, then take a flop with the Ickie’s rest your creepers and fixate your peepers on our hopped up movies on the big screen. Get here between 7 and 8 and we’ll even enter you in our free early bird raffle that’s drawn at 8. Don’t vip another vop – if it’s hopped-up, solid-sent and swingin’ like a gate it must be Lee & Seema’s JUMP TIME!!

Advanced Lindy Hop with Paul & Christi – Sat 1 March

For those of you who would like to expand your dancing vocabulary with some more challenging moves and refine your technique, Paul and Christi are running Advanced Lindy Hop classes. These take place on the first Saturday of every month  and the next class is 1 March.

Time & date: 2 -5 pm, Sat 1 March, 5 April, 3 May

Venue: The Calton Centre, Montgomery St, Edinburgh, EH7 5EP

Price: £6/£4 (students) – an absolute bargain for 3 hours of world class teaching!

Styling workshop with Helen Cheney – 8 Feb 2014

International dance teacher, Helen Cheney, is running 2 hour workshop on improving body awareness and styling for lindy hop and blues dancers. The space will have mirrors so we can get a better feel for how our bodies move and the shapes we’re making.

Improving style leads to:
Better dancing posture (less aches and pains)
Looking and feeling better on the dance floor
Improving lead and follow
Better flow in your dancing

This will be primarily targeted at follow styling, however leads are welcome to join.

6 Week Intermediate Course – Bookings Now Open!

Are you looking for your next lindy hop challenge? Register now for our our 6 Week Intermediate Course with international teachers, Helen Cheney, Sean Adams and Tim Bayman! With variations on swing outs and Charlestons, 6 beat and jazz steps, this course will help to broaden your base of moves, and improve your floorcraft, connection, and musicality.

This intermediate course is ideal if you:

– Social dance regularly
– Have attended a few workshops and weekly improver classes for a year or more
– Have a good appreciation of the fundamentals such as swing outs, lindy turns, lindy circle, texas tommy, swivels for followers, and charleston variations such as side-by-side and tandem charleston
– Want to take your dancing to the next level by refining your movements, as well as increasing your repertoire of moves

Where’s it happening and how do I sign up?!

The course will run at Kirk o’ Field (140 Pleasance, Edinburgh, EH8 9RR) from 8:00 – 9:30pm on Wednesday nights from 12 February to 19 March. The whole six weeks is at a bargain price of £30 (£25 for students!)

Places are limited, so book now to secure a spot on the Intermediate Course!
Please note that these classes are not available for drop-in dancers. If you can’t make all six weeks, don’t worry, but you must register for the full course.

New year classes… plus special guest Cat Foley

The Tuesday Night Spoonful Blues will return after the Christmas break on the 7th Jan, and sees the return of the unstoppable Shell Davies with 2 weeks of special classes.

Shoeswing classes will return Wednesday 8 January. Lee and Seema Paterson will be teaching throughout January so come along for some great classes!

AND the last week of January is Cabaret week and we have international teacher, Cat Foley, taking over! Cat will be teaching a special blues class at the Tuesday Night Spoonful on 28 Jan. On Cabaret night (Weds 29) she’ll teach lindy hop beginners at 7pm, and a performance class for the improvers at 8pm (which will be of special interest to anyone performing that night!). Cat also has a surprise routine for us in the cabaret!

Edinbop AGM and dance with live band – 1st December

This year we’ve got any extra special treat for you at our annual general meeting, we will making it a sunday afternoon dance and better yet we have a live band for you to dance to.

We are happy to announce the  New Phoenix Jazz Band will be playing their swinging tunes for us. You don’t want to miss out this opportunity. Edinbop will be subsidising the event to encourage you to come to the AGM.

Lindy Hop Classes – November

A real treat! This month, the awesome Bob Grasse and Jenn Gamracy will be teaching lindy hop classes at the Counting House.
As always, no partner required, come as you are and have a fun night!

Beginners classes start at 7pm.

Improvers classes at 8pm.

Followed by our super friendly social dancing with DJ Lenny Love at 9pm.
