Don’t forget – all our classes and social dancing are on hold during the Fringe Festival, when all our usual venues are taken over for fantastic performances from all over the world.
We’ll be back in September on the following dates:
Blues: Tuesday 6 September
Book Shop Lindy Hop: Tuesday 6 September
Lindy Hop: Wednesday 7 September
But if you can’t last the month without the chance to dance, don’t worry! We’re adding a few more dancing opportunities to our calendar, so keep an eye on then Calendar and our Facebook group for dancing throughout August.
Due to the Edinburgh International Science Festival taking place at Summerhall for the next three weeks, we’ll be at Marchmont St Giles, EH9 2DW, tonight (23rd of March) and next week (Wednesday 30 March) for classes and dancing.
Blues will stay as is on Tuesdays at the Newsroom and Balboa at the Washbar on Saturdays.
Edinbop are pleased to announce the launch of our new website. Hopefully this covers everything you need to know about swing dancing in Edinburgh, whether you’re into Lindy Hop, Blues or Balboa. If you’re new to dancing, check out our FAQs and class info to get a feel for what you can look forward to!
The other big news this month is Shoe Swing‘s move toSummerhall. After almost 10 years at The Counting House, we’re moving on up to Edinburgh’s newest and biggest arts venue. Join us on 2nd March for the start of a new era!
This means that Balboa is expanding into it’s own weekly event, with the Saturday Shuffle at The Wash Bar from 11am-3pm. There are so many exciting developments for swing dancing in Edinburgh, we hope you can join us for the ride!
On Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 February, we’re holding a Beginners Weekend Workshop at the Counting House. This workshop with Ellen and Rob will focus on good fun, good technique and good moves! (And at a good price too – only £25 / £20 for students!)
An ideal way to build those solid basics and confidence to get on the dancefloor. Alternatively, if you’ve been thinking about learning to lead when you usually follow, or vice versa, now is your chance!
There will also be a beginner-friendly tea dance for £3 on Sunday 28 October (included in your ticket price if you attend a class).
We also now have a new Edinbop committee for 2016:
Sigridur Vala Gunnarsdottir
We’d like to give a massive thanks again to Rianna and the Hops for providing us with live music on our last night of social dancing in 2015, and to Martyn Tunstall who stepped down from the Committee this year.
Through the autumn Edinbop is offering you the opportunity to learn to dance. So for those of you who want take your first steps on the dancefloor, or are tempted to learn something new, you’re in luck! We’ve got, not one, but TWO Beginners Weekends coming up!
It’s only £25 for each weekend (£20 for students) and, to sweeten the deal even more, if you book for both, you get a £5 discount on each!!
So tell your friends, family, colleagues and partners and register today!
