The fabulous Stephen Sayer and Chanzie Roettig are coming all the way from the USA to our neighbouring scene in Glasgow to teach a weekend of collegiate shag and lindy hop!

Lindy Hop with Sigga and Helios PLUS live music night!

Shoeswing brings you a very international line-up for October’s lindy classes with Sigga and Helios! Head on down to the Counting House for 7pm (Beginners), 8pm (Improvers) and 9-11.30pm social dancing every Wednesday.

PLUS put a little extra swing in your step with our live music special on the 22nd October:

From the The Gramophone Jass Band and the mighty Foo Birds, four very talented musicians – Dan, Alex, Joe and Charlie – will be playing awesome swing tunes for our dancing pleasure.

Swing Dancing through the Fringe

Our regular classes might have paused for the Fringe Festival (we’ll be back on Tuesday 2 / Wednesday 3 September), but that doesn’t mean the dancing has to stop!

Escape to the Iso Bar, every Wednesday for a chilled night of getting away from the festival madness, drinks and dancing. Featuring an all-level solo jazz class at 8pm (bargain prices at £5/£3, with 50% of proceeds going to EWRASAC) followed by social dancing from 9pm-10:30pm!

And next weekend, Saturday 9 August, there’s Paul and Christi’s Lindy Boot Camp, an awesome one-day workshop and evening social dance at the Calton Centre.

You can also join us for a flash-mob swing dance at 4pm-4:30pm in Grassmarket, Sunday 10 August!

Or, if you fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh City, take a visit to our neighbour swing dance scene in Glasgow!
For those of you who know the basics of Collegiate Shag and want to learn more, check out this workshop on Saturday 23 August.
There’s also the legendary Cake Hop on Saturday 30 August, and then a FREE social dance the next day, Sunday 31 August!

There’s so much to see and do during the Fringe Festival, so keep an eye on the Edinbop Facebook page for last minute dancing-related Fringe outings!

16:00–16:30

Term dates – Fringe Festival break

Our last classes for this term are 22nd July for Blues, 23rd July for Lindy (<- cabaret night!) BUT we’re back at the usual times and venues after a month break for the Fringe Festival on the 2nd/3rd September.

Don’t forget to check out some of the awesome live acts at Edinburgh’s Jazz and Blues Festival (July 18-27) and stay posted to the Edinbop Facebook page for last minute Fringe outings!

Shoe Swing Wednesdays – Prices

Edinbop is committed to providing access to quality swing dancing classes and nights of social dancing for everyone, and as a result we aim to make our prices as low as possible.

However, due to a rather steep 50% increase in rent for our Wednesday night venue, we have reluctantly come to the difficult decision of increasing the prices for the first time in a number of years.

To keep the impact to you as low as possible, the price of classes will now just automatically include social dancing (still discounted to £1) and the cost of social dancing alone will increase to £3. The new prices for Wednesday Shoeswing will apply from June 2014 and are shown below:

1 class (includes social dancing): £5.50 // £4.50 student
2 classes (includes social dancing): £10 // £8 student
Social only: £3

The Tuesday Spoonful prices will also be increasing – more details will be circulated soon.
If there’s anything you want to know about the Edinbop finances or the changes, please collar one of the committee members for a chat or email info@edinbop.co.uk.

Spread the love of swing dancing!

We want to increase awareness of swing dance far and wide! To help raise our profile, committee members Leigh, Bryony and Sigga are working hard on giving Edinbop a makeover.

Over the next few months, you’ll see some new flyers, changes to the Edinbop website, and some outdoor dancing in public places like the Meadows and the Mound. Edinbop t-shirts are even on the cards to help promote our community – let us know if you’d be interested in buying one!

If you want to get involved and help us in promoting the joy of dancing by coming along to some outdoor dancing, distributing flyers, or anything else you can think of, drop an email to: info@edinbop.co.uk.
