Foundations Class: Musicality and Improvisation- Two-Step Rhythms
Blues dancing is based in improvisation and is inextricably linked to blues musics. How do we come up with what we want our body to do in any particular moment? This theme is all about what's inspiring us to move in a given way — the music, ourself, our partner — while still staying true to the blues aesthetic.
Although blues dancing doesn't have a single basic pattern, it does have building blocks that are common to many of its dances. One of these is mixing and matching steps that take one beat and steps that take two beats, which is what we'll be doing in this class!
As always, complete beginners welcome, no partner necessary.

Improvers+ Class: Savoy Walk
As its name implies, Savoy Walk was danced in the Savoy Ballroom in New York. This dance falls into the ballroomin' category of blues dances and combines the slinkiness of jazz blues music and the flashiness of Lindy Hop.
Prerequisites: Participation in the preceding Foundations class or experience of travelling with quicks and slows.
