The Lindy hop is an American dance that evolved in the 1920s and 1930s in the dance halls of Harlem, New York City. Lindy Hop is an energetic, improvisational dance that incorporates elements of jazz, tap and the Charleston.

Lindy hop combines both partnered and solo dancing by using the movements and improvisation of African American dances along with the formal eight-count structure of European partner dances.

In the 1980s, Lindy Hop experienced a revival from American, Swedish, and British dancers, and is now danced worldwide.
